My son LOVES his Darth Vadar costume and it is so durable. I am used to the skimpy Halloween costumes but this is so much nicer. I even washed it twice and it is still like new. No fraying or ripping, I love it but not as much as my 4 year old. It was his favorite Christmas gift!

My 4-year old LOVES this costume. He wears it daily. It really is a very cute costume. Not really made well enough to last long through the wear and tear of a young child's daily use but great costume for imaginiative play nonetheless.

Overall, this is a really terrific costume that will stand up to some wear and tear. My 4-year-old is much taller than most kids his age, and we were very frustrated to find that the standard Clone Trooper costume we bought at the store just barely fit him, despite being labeled as fitting kids 5-7 years old. This Darth Vader costume was a good find for us, as it's roomy and will last him for at least a year or two.
The good: The costume itself is pretty well-constructed, and much more detailed than the standard Vader costume you find at a certain huge chain toy store. My son was really wowed by it, and wanted to wear it constantly despite the fact that it was the middle of summer! It's a lot of fun for imaginative play. The silver parts of the suit are actually constructed of a flexible plastic-type substance that gives it a much more realistic, 3-D look than the usual printed costume. The cape is detachable.
The bad: Even though the costume shows gloves and a light saber, you'll need to purchase these items separately. (The gauntlet gloves are really nice, and in my opinion, really finish the costume.) The costume belt is WAY too big, and not very adjustable. To get it to fit our son, we have to tie it in the back rather than using the velcro fastener. This makes visiting the bathroom less than fun!
I'd buy this costume again, but would be happier if they'd include gloves and make the belt more easily adjustable.

We ordered this costume for my son's fifth birthday. He is absolutely in love with villains, but Darth Vader tops his list. It was all he's been asking for for weeks. I was a little dubious about ordering from the internet, since it's difficult to determine what quality costume you'll receive based solely on photos. I wasn't in the market for a flimsy Halloween one-nighter affair. However, this one surpassed my expectations as far as the detail and durability goes. The "electronics" panel in the front is constructed of a tough molded foam, and stands up well to bends and folds. The mask is of a thick jet-molded plastic, so it doesn't puncture or crack easily, and it is fitted with foam padding on the inside, for a comfort fit around the eyes and nose. If I had to nit-pick, I might criticize the construction of the cape. It's somewhat thin and short. But I do like the fact that it secures with velcro to the shoulder piece and can come off if you want it to. Also kind of a bummer it didn't come with the gauntlet gloves, but we purchased those separately, and fairly cheaply. This costume is a lot cheaper looking than i thought. Almost looks like it was returned and resold. My 5 year old doesn't care so....nor do I. Glad it's only for one halloween, because i anticipate damage.
