Product Description
Han and his friends go to Bespin to escape the Empire, but Han's friend Lando turns them over to their enemy, Darth Vader. Strapped to a rack, Han is tortured and has no idea why. He tells Leia afterwards, "They never asked me any questions."

Add this articulated action figure to your collection. Based on the character from the film, "The Empire Strikes Back," this detailed figure comes with a torture rack accessory and an exclusive collector coin. Measures 3.75" tall.

5 out of 5 stars Great toy for the Star Wars fan   December 27, 2008

I agree with the "previous reviewer." This is a great toy for the die-hard Star Wars fan. It is very well made and "film acurate." The seller did a great job packaging this item and it arrived very quickly. Great job!

What can I say, Empire Strikes Back is the best of all the Star Wars films, and this figure is a wonderful addition. From the get go in 1995, Hasbro never released enough Empire figures. This figure represents the dark nature of Empire. Say what you will about articulation and details, but if you put this figure next to an old POTF2 version, it is clearly superior. The artwork on the card is wonderful as well. Enjoy!!

4 out of 5 stars have fun with Han Solo   February 20, 2009

The Han Solo with torture rack action figure is an interesting toy. The obvious purpose of it is to torture Han, this is also the reason for my purchase. I understand if some find it a bit limited as an action figure since the design of Han Solo is made purely to interact with the torture rack. When he's not strapped to the rack his legs looks to skinny, his face shows some kind of pain and his neck is a bit streched. The rack itself looks nice and it's possible to move the strapped Han Solo back and forth towards the torture instruments. The scene in Empire Strikes Back were Han is tortured is fairly short. So it gives you the chance to really prolong this torture scene. And what about the children, should they play with torture? I'm not a child and I had to by this as soon as I saw it in the toystore.

2 out of 5 stars Han Solo: In Torture Rack from "The Empire Strikes Back"   February 26, 2010

As much as I've enjoyed repeat viewings of "The Empire Strikes Back" over the last thirty years, I still find the brief torture sequence late in the film featuring a captive Han Solo unsettling to watch. Compared to today's often gruesome standards in sci-fi fantasy films, the Solo torture scene is frankly pretty tame.

Not too long ago, I came across this Han Solo figure strapped into the torture recliner and opted to add it to my collection. What can I say? I'm always going to be a Han Solo fan. The figure (wearing Solo's familiar Bespin costume) is relatively good, and its resemblance to actor Harrison Ford is okay at best. Still, the only thing troubling me, since my pre-schooler son wants to play with this Han Solo, is whether or not this toy is really appropriate for kids.

On the one end, a "frozen" Han Solo in carbonite toy is fairly easy to explain to children without going into great detail about how or why the freezing scene occurs in the film. At the opposite end is this toy. Specifically, how does a parent comfortably explain to a young kid what a torture chamber is? Frankly, I don't know the answer to that one since having a child play "torture" even with action figures is definitely not an exercise in good taste.

My take is that this toy is fine for adult collectors, but I think a parent should strongly think twice before purchasing it for a child.

Rating: 4/10 (Han Solo figures & various accessories typically are great fun, but this one could be easily construed as being in bad taste.)

P.S. The toy comes with a collector's silver coin with the image of a tortured Han in the rack. Again, what bad message does this toy potentially send to a child?

1 out of 5 stars Torture toy...What's next, animal mutilation kits?   December 21, 2007

I recently discovered this toy and am dismayed by its existence. I can imagine fewer activities I would want children to be playing about, torture. The toy even comes with a type of torture rack (see picture). The package has a picture on the back of Han Solo screaming. After enough time with this toy, maybe your little 4 year old (minimum age for toy) or one of his/her friends will escalate the level of play by fashioning an actual device similar to that depicted in the toy. I'd imagine a kitchen chair and a curling iron would suffice. The reality that I also found this toy in a store that was smack-dab in the middle of a refugee community with a high rate of torture survivors...well, you get the idea.
