Product Description
Just like the classic Star Wars vessel, its wings can fold for flight or vertical landing. Challenge the forces of the Empire and use your launchers to save the day! A service tower doubles as a display stand for the fighter and can fold down for easy storage. Cockpit opens so you can put the B-wing pilot at the controls. Includes Rebel pilot. Includes 435 LEGO pieces.

Long-awaited by fans and collectors, this B-Wing fighter model is an excellent replica of the spaceship rebel forces used in Return of the Jedi's Battle of Endor during the final defeat of the Death Star II and the Empire. A reissue of a formerly released B-Wing fighter set (7180), this ship is bigger than the original—standing 15 inches tall on the display stand--and has almost 100 more pieces (435 versus 338). Like the vessel in the movie, the fighter has wings that manually open from parallel to perpendicular and a rotating and self-leveling cockpit. Other features of the B-Wing include a hinged canopy on the cockpit and a missile launcher that shoots two missiles. A docking bay, which doubles as a display stand, holds the missiles and a selection of six tools. The set comes with two B-Wing pilot minifigs (Ten Numb and one unnamed pilot). These minifigs have flesh-toned skin instead of the more collectible yellow skin on the earlier Star Wars figures. Purists may also be disappointed that Lego includes decals to adhere to pieces in this set rather than going to the expense of painting designs directly on the bricks. The B-Wing fighter takes anywhere from two to four hours to build with some help from the illustrated instructions. The manual also contains a full inventory of all pieces with part numbers in case a piece is lost and builders need to order a replacement. --Cristina Vaamonde

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Ship!!!   January 28, 2006

I have always loved B-Wings and have told myself that one day I would get one. These new releases caught my eye and so I spent my own money to get one. I was not disappointed. The B-Wing is AWESOME!!! It copies the design and features from the fighter in the movie very carefully, so it's a good-looking model Actually, the B-Wing in the movie is pretty ugly, and this copies the ship from the movie, but I've played enough video games to respect its firepower. I guess it doesn't look too bad. It's a nice Lego, but nothing is perfect. Here are the pros and cons.

PROS:
At a good 15 inches tall, this thing is MONSTER!
It looks really neat
The service tower is a nice thing to have for realistic play
With the tower as a display stand, this thing looks cool in your bedroom
For a huge fighter, it's actually easy to play with
This thing would probably rock in the Star Wars ship battles kids like me have with its 7 guns.
Not too hard to build

CONS:
Kind of expensive
It doesn't break often, but when it does, it's tough to repair
It's not too hard to build, but it does take a while
It doesn't balance too well on the service tower/display stand because it's so heavy. Don't touch it though and you'll be fine
The Ten Numb minifigure doesn't look too good in my opinion
You have to open the S-foils manually. You think Lego would have the little gear-wheel to open it.
Missiles have zip range, but Lego never really came through in the missile department anyway
Engines look a bit tiny compared to the rest of the model
The mechanic minifigure(whichever one you choose to use, I like to use the Ten Numb minifigure)doesn't have a lot of room to stand on
The pilot minifigure is kind of hard to fit in

Overall, most of the flaws are tiny and it's a really cool ship worth the $35.

5 out of 5 stars #1 Lego star wars ship!! by Davin Felth   December 14, 2007

At first glance looks kinda silly. However when you look at it closely it is the most advanced set you can get for $30! With its rotating cockpit and shooting missiles (which i may ad have zippo range) are complex to put together for anyone under 6. Also the little base/stand thing is kind of stupid yet comes with lots of "rare" pieces. I would suggest for ages from 7-15. "he,s not worth anything to me dead."Boba Fett!!!

5 out of 5 stars Lego B-Wing Fighter Review (I couldn't think of a better title! :(   December 25, 2008
This is a cool set because of the wings. They aren't on a gear with rubber bands like the Lego ARC-170 starfighter, but instead there are only hinges, so you have to move them yourself. The "display stand" works for a while, but eventually will stop holding it up properly. The missles don't shoot as well as I'd like them to. But oh well. It still is a really good set.

5 out of 5 stars B-Wing Revamped   August 2, 2010

What is there to say? This B-Wing model is fantastic. The B-Wings were not particularly highlighted in the movies much, but their unique design really left an impression in my mind and when this new version was released I scooped it up along with the 2006 Slave 1.

This B-Wing takes a great many upgrades from the original one released. It is bulkier for one, but in a good way. There are swooshing pieces on the wings so it doesn't suffer from the same "panel flat" wing look when in landing mode. The main body is also revamped and looks more movie-accurate. The cockpit still rotates also. The great thing is that it comes with two missiles in the main body!. You pull the back of the thrusters and release it and it shoots two technic pin-missiles forward (akin to a more-powerful flick fire missile but without the wimpy look).

PROS:
Ten Nubb mini figure in red x wing-isk flight suit (unique-to-this-set face)
Pilot with really cool white pilot body and helmet
Comes with landing platform that doubles as a stand for the model in either pose (wings closed or open)
More detail on model
Sturdy Build
Missile fire action!

CONS:
Missiles can be lost
Guns on the wings are prone to fall off at first

Over all this set is a great set. Durable and formidable, it is more than worth the price. A true classic, whether on display or being in the hands of kids, this set is a must-buy for any lego star wars fan, mild or hardcore.
